PORCELAIN VENEERS IN WICHITA, KS

Porcelain Veneers in Wichita, KS

Porcelain Veneers - Wichita, KS Dentist | Wichita Dental Group, PA

If your teeth are stained, misshapen, or crooked, veneers could be the solution you're looking for.

Veneers are thin layers of porcelain or plastic that are bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. They're perfect for teeth that are chipped, discolored, unevenly spaced, or have an irregular shape. Veneers are also highly resistant to stains from coffee, tea, and even smoking, giving you a long-lasting, bright smile.

Porcelain veneers are great for covering up imperfections like teeth stained from medication (like tetracycline), injuries, or discoloration from root canal treatments. They're also perfect for hiding discolored fillings in visible front teeth. If you have gaps between your front teeth, or if they're chipped or worn down, porcelain veneers could be a fantastic solution for you.

Getting veneers usually involves about three visits to our office: planning, preparation, and bonding.

During the preparation visit, which lasts about a couple of hours (depending on how many teeth we're prepping, could be a longer appointment), we gently buff your teeth to make room for the thin layer of the veneer. Typically, we remove about half a millimeter of tooth enamel, a process that might require a local anesthetic for your comfort. At the same time, we'll take a mold of your teeth to send to our lab, where your custom veneers will be crafted.

During the final visit, the veneers are placed on the tooth surface to check their fit and get a sense of the shade or color. To apply the veneer, the tooth is cleansed with specific chemicals to achieve a bond. Once a special cement is sandwiched between the veneer and tooth, a visible light beam, or laser, causes a catalyst to be released, hardening the cement.

During a two-week period of adjustment that follows, you may notice the change of size and shape in your teeth. It is important to brush and floss daily. Porcelain veneers are reasonable facsimiles of natural teeth, not perfect replacements. It`s not uncommon to see slight variations in the color of porcelain veneers upon close inspection, as this occurs even in natural teeth.

For certain patients no preparation of the teeth may be necessary.
